Don’t Forget to Open Your Gift

By December 24, 2013No Comments

Two weeks ago my friend noticed an odd shaped object lodged under her couch.  She bent down on all fours, peered underneath and stretched her arm to retrieve whatever the odd thing was.

One of last year’s Christmas gifts.

Oops.

Forgotten. Shoved underneath a place every member of their family sits multiple hours every day. Unnoticed.  Unappreciated.  Unused.

Gifts aren’t meant to be forgotten.  They aren’t meant to go unopened.  They aren’t given to be unused, stuffed someplace out of sight for months on end.

Gifts are meant to bless.

2000 years ago God gave us a gift.  A gift He still gives to people like you and me.  It’s a gift we all long for–even if sometimes we forget and stuff it underneath the busy places of our lives.  It was a gift given to bless us with great joy.

This Christmas may you receive the gift you really want–good news of great joy.  Don’t be afraid. Slip away, if only for a moment, and enjoy the personal gift God gave to you. And still gives. A Savior was born to you.  For you.  He is Christ the Lord.

This is your hope.

This is your comfort.

This is your joy.

This is your gift.

Merry Christmas!
